Senior moving & downsizing · Apex, Cary & Raleigh

A gentler move,
for the people
you love.

Leaving a long-time family home is about far more than furniture. I plan the downsizing, the move and the new home as one transition, with one point of contact and patience at every step.

For parents and families

One plan, one contact, and nobody rushed.

Whether you're planning your own move or helping a parent with theirs, the walkthrough is the place to start. Bring whoever should be part of the conversation.

We're new, and I'd rather say so than borrow anyone else's reviews. You'll meet me first, and your plan and quote come in writing.

How I care for a senior move

Patience, planned in.

Downsizing, without the pressure

Deciding what comes, what goes to family, and what's donated takes time and tact. We work through it together, at your pace, and I arrange removal for anything that isn't making the trip.

A new home that already feels familiar

The favorite chair by the window. Photographs hung where they can be seen. The bed made the way it always is. We set up the new home to feel like home on the very first night.

Family kept in the loop

Adult children often live hours or time zones away. One contact keeps everyone informed — what's been decided, what's been done, and what happens next.

Patience built into the plan

Nobody is rushed out of their own home. The schedule allows for goodbyes, for stories about the things being packed, and for rest.

Photographs, kept for everyone

A lifetime of pictures rarely fits on the walls of a smaller home. I can have photographs and keepsakes digitized, so nothing is lost and every branch of the family can have a copy.

The family home, closed properly

Once the move is done, what's left is donated or cleared, and the house is left broom-clean, ready to sell or hand back.

The Fort Fox Method

Four stages, at a pace that suits the person moving.

I lead your move from the first conversation to the final walkthrough, and the crew and vendors I bring in carry out the plan we agreed. You will never be handed to a dispatcher, and nobody you haven't been told about will turn up at your door.

  1. Walkthrough

I come to your home and walk it with you, room by room. What matters most, what can't break, which rooms need to work on the first night, and the dates you can't move.

  2. Plan

You receive a written transition plan: what gets packed when, what the home you're leaving needs before handover, where everything lands in the new one — and your quote, in writing, before a single box is packed.

  3. Move

Packing, protection, loading and transport on the dates in your plan. Cleaners, painters and repairs at the old home are scheduled around you, not left for you to chase.

  4. Settle

Unpacked and placed the way we planned it. Beds made, kitchen working, boxes gone. I walk the new home with you before we leave, and anything open is written down and owned.

Questions

What families ask before a senior move.

Can you help if our family lives far away?

Yes. Adult children often live hours or time zones away. One contact keeps everyone informed: what's been decided, what's been done and what happens next.

Who should be at the walkthrough?

Whoever should be part of the conversation: the person moving, and any family who want to be involved in the decisions.

What happens to the things that aren't coming?

We decide together, at your pace, what goes to family and what's donated, and I arrange removal for anything that isn't making the trip.

Will anyone be rushed?

No. The schedule allows for goodbyes, for stories about the things being packed, and for rest.

Is there any obligation after the walkthrough?

No. You receive a written plan and quote, and no decision has to be made on the day.
